Through Khulisa, Mavungana Flyfishing has funded and supported tagging programmes on Lake Jozini in the Pongola River system and on the Lower Orange River in the Richtersveld, alongside collaborative research with the University of Mpumalanga and anti‑poaching patrols on both systems. More than 188 tigerfish have been tagged, with a 4.7% recapture rate—an invaluable dataset revealing movement patterns, growth rates, and population health.
